Around the House

Neverland Nursery

“So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings”

J.M. Barrie, Peter pan
Drake’s crib (wallpaper was in our old house – but I miss that accent wall so much!)

As soon as our doctor told us “It’s a boy!” I knew our nursery theme would be Peter Pan. Growing up, my husband had “Hook” bedsheets (RUFIOOOO) and loved the original animated Disney film. It took me little to no convincing because, let’s be real, is there anything better than Tink flying above your head in the Magic Kingdom?

So off I went to find some inspiration on Pintrest. When I bring Disney into my home, I try to do it in a subtle way. I strive to have my decor still be on ‘trend’ but with a little extra, pixie dust, if you will.

Wall Decor found on Etsy

This was the first wall decor piece I purchased. I love the farmhouse vibe with the walnut stained wood frame, so I quickly added to cart and used this as inspo for the rest of the room. Plus, what a great quote for a boy nursery in general. Since becoming a mother, time has never gone faster, and I see that in my children’s growth every day. Sigh.

Frames Found at HomeGoods – Faux Plant Found at IKEA

Picking picture frames can be so overwhelming. There are so many sizes, shapes, colors, stains, metals, etc. After looking at some designer websites I knew I wanted to mix size, metals, and wood. Here are the three that I found from HomeGoods. I then found some cool free digital downloads that I printed out on card stock and popped them into the frames. I think it turned out pretty cute! On the dresser, I wanted to add some greenery so found this faux plant from Ikea. Lastly, no Peter Pan themed anything would be complete without a trapped Tink in a lantern! Look closely – she is sitting on the little block with her pouty face – adore her!

Peter Pan Figuring Set & Target Triangle shelf

I don’t love super ‘cartoony” rooms. But I felt like I needed to bring a little more Peter into this nursery. I found this geometric wooden shelf from Target but didn’t know for sure what to put in there. The little cubbies are SO small. So I went and did some hunting on Amazon and found this cute little Peter Pan figurine set. All of the characters fit PERFECTLY. I then found other small trinkets like the pirate ship, compass, and pocket watch on Amazon as well. Add a costume hook hand and a little greenery and voila! Another Peter Pan element to the room was complete!

Mobile & Similar Mirrors

My mother in law and I were looking up mobiles one day and we couldn’t find any traditional ones that we liked. You know, the ones that clip onto the crib and actually give your baby something to look at while they lay there so peacefully? But we did find this very delicate little number on Etsy and decided to go with it. It was the perfect little accompaniment to the room and reminded me of Peter’s shadow dancing around the nursery in the movie. On the little half wall, I found a trio of little arrow mirrors from Target that helped me keep on track with my wood/metal trend!

And here is my little Peter Pan to complete the room

And that is a wrap! I hope you enjoyed seeing how I have incorporated Peter Pan into my little man’s nursery. How have you sprinkled Disney magic into your little ones room? Share your ideas in the comments below!
