Take a Girls Trip to the Magic
A lot of people think that Disney is just for kids, but they are definitely mistaken. Last year, my girlfriends and I planned a trip for May to do a long weekend down in Disney. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to the park closures, but we are hoping to reschedule. If you have been thinking about taking a girls trip down to see the Mouse, I’m sharing some ideas I had planned in hopes to inspire your next girls weekend!
Where to stay for an Adults Only Trip
If I were planning a girls trip down to Disney, I would strongly consider Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. The Boardwalk is located right next to Epcot and is a short ten minute walk to the International Gateway entrance. This makes it extremely convenient to go walk (drink) around the world or enjoy whatever festival is going on during that time. The Boardwalk itself provides a ton of adult entertainment. They have a great bar called “Abracadabar” which is themed after “the golden age of magic”. After having an ‘incredible trick and even better drink’ there, you can walk down the Boardwalk a little further to Jellyrolls which is a dueling piano bar. There, you can request all of your favorite tunes and sing the night away before stumbling, er returning, back to your hotel room.
Best Restaurant on Property for a Girls night
Disney’s food scene is one of the reasons why I love vacationing there. There are so many options for everyone you vacation with. For a girls trip specifically, I would definitely recommend making a reservation at Wine Bar George in Disney Springs. Wine Bar George is an American restaurant that offers over 140 wines by the glass, bottle, and ounce. You can order small bites like Saganaki on fire or charcuterie or opt in for a full steak dinner. Whether you choose this restaurant for dinner or a boozy brunch, this is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with your gal pals.
Best Festival for a Girls trip
Epcot hosts several festivals around the World Showcase every year. These include Festival of the Arts, Flower and Garden Festival, Food and Wine Festival, and Festival of the Holidays. While I think all of these festivals are great and offer many food and drink options, Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival is definitely the largest with the most food and drink offerings. They also have some super fun classes and seminars you can sign up for like live cooking classes, how to pair wine and chocolate/cheese, or even crafting the perfect cocktail. Additionally, Food and Wine Festival runs during the fall, which is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World.
Drink Some Fancy Cocktails
If you are looking to dress up and go out for a fancy (and expensive cocktail) I would head on over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and go find a table at the Enchanted Rose Lounge. The Enchanted Rose is a lounge that is themed after the live action Beauty and the Beast film. It has four different atmospheres in the bar including Belle’s library and the Beast’s castle garden terrace. It is important to note that specialty cocktails can cost up to $25 per drink, so be prepared for that price tag before you close out your tab!
Head to the Spa
Before drinking that fancy cocktail (or after – you’re on vacation!) head on over to the Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian Resort for a spa day! You can get massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. If you are looking for a relaxing day, this is just the place to do it.
Go Shopping
You can really shop in any gift shop or kiosk in the parks and be totally happy, but if you want to make a day out of it, go to Disney Springs and shop all day! Disney Springs is a downtown shopping district that offers over 100 shops, restaurants, and live entertainment. I LOVE Disney Springs – we make it a point to go every trip. If you are on a trip with your girls, you can visit popular stores like Anthropologie, Sephora, Basin, Francescas, and Lululemon. However, no Disney Springs shopping trip would be complete without a visit to World of Disney, so make sure you stop there too!
Ride all the Rides
No worries about height requirements and rider swaps here! One of the best things about an adults only trip is that you can do whatever rides you want! Get everyone together and find everyone’s must do’s and ride those rides. My must do adult rides are Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios, Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom, Test Track in Epcot, and Big Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom.
This post has me day dreaming of the days I get to go on a trip with my girls! Have you ever been on an adults only trip to Disney World? Are you currently planning a girls trip? What is on your must do list? Comment below and let me know what you are planning for your magical girls trip!
